Rheumatological diseases including Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, can cause pain, stiffness and swelling in the joints and bones, as well as affecting other areas of the body; for example, organs and connective tissues such as muscles, tendons and ligaments. The goal of physiotherapy treatment for these conditions is often to limit pain and inflammation and help retain joint function; whilst maximising functional independence.
At The Kids Place:
- At The Kids Place we can provide intensive, functional therapy through play and age-appropriate activities for children with rheumatological conditions.
- We support the specialist team; completing assessments and working on range of movement, pain and strength concerns as well as encouraging active participation in therapy and home programmes.
We also consider closely, the importance of functional activities; at home, kindergarten/school and play; and our therapy consistently reflects this.
